Sunday Dinner & Football!

I have been in the mood to cook a lot more lately.  Once in awhile I will make a dinner and have friends come over.  It has turned into a little wine night every couple of weeks.  The first time I made dinner for friends I made Maryland Crab Cakes with a side of roasted potatoes and caesar salad.  At the first dinner we decided that we should get together more often and have a theme for each of our dinners.

For our second dinner the wine theme was South American.  My friends brought the wine, and I made quesadillas for dinner with a side of rice and salad.  The purpose for these dinners is to broaden our taste and knowledge of wine and to improve my cooking skills.  I have to say that so far my friends and even myself are impressed with the quality of the food.

Tonight was our third time in getting together.  As you all know, Rosh Hashanah was on Thursday.  The girls and I decided to celebrate the holiday.  I made Brisket for the first time ever.  The recipe was given to me from a friend at work who celebrates the holiday.  The Brisket was an absolute success!  It was seasoned perfectly, and it was so tender that it melted in your mouth.

I served the Brisket with potatoes and broccoli.  We didn't have wine tonight, but we did have our beer while watching the first half of the Ravens game.  At half time the Ravens were up by 10 points, when they originally had a 20 pt lead.  A little disappointing, but I am hoping for good news in the morning.

All in all, it was another good meal.  I am going to have to add it to my list of things I can make :)  I am not going to lie.  I don't cook much, so this is good practice for me.  At least the place hasn't burnt down yet!  Until next time... arrivederci!
