Road Trip!

This morning my aunt, uncle, and I got up early, so we could get an early start.  We were traveling from Fasano to Potenza Picena, which is a straight shot and would be about a 5 hour drive.  However, we decided that we wanted to take a detour through the peninsula.

Our route from Fasano to Potenza Picena
Driving around the peninsula was beautiful.  We had a view of the sea, and there were times where we were driving through the mountains.  The drive through the mountains reminded me of the drive from Venice to Florence last summer I took with my mom, sister and brother.

A little town where we stopped for lunch
We didn't make too many stops along our trip except for grabbing a bite to eat and using the restrooms. We took this route for the view, and it ended up being absolutely breathtaking.  After being in the car from 8:15 in the morning until 5:30 in the evening, I was exhausted.  I was able to introduce my aunt and uncle to Michela, who I am staying with.  She had just returned from Ravenna, and the little boy and Alfredo were nowhere to be found because they were out and about.  Soon enough, my aunt and uncle were on their way after getting to see the place where I have been spending my summers.

Now for the juicy part... for the first time in my entire life I tried a new kind of meat at dinner with the Boccaccinis.  Michela made a dinner for us, but can you guess what kind of meat we ate??  I bet you didn't guess it.  I had rabbit.  Yes, I ate rabbit.  If you knew me as a young child, then you would know that I would never stray from what I know AKA chicken, beef, and chicken again.  Sorry, I didn't get any pictures of me eating the rabbit, but I must say it was delicious.  It tasted just like chicken.   Not only did it taste like chicken, it also looked like chicken.  All I can say is, at least it wasn't horse.  After talking with my uncle earlier in the trip, he mentioned that horse is somewhat of a delicacy.  Alfredo confirmed this at dinner saying that people began eating horse when they did not have enough iron.  I'm sorry to say, but even if I don't have enough iron, I will never ever eat a horse.

Well, with all that being said... buonanotte!
