Somebody Pinch Me!

Yesterday morning we woke up at he crack of dawn to leave Ravenna to head towards Rome.  Near Rome is a little seaport, where the Boccaccini's, family friends, and myself boarded a catamaran.  Not just any catamaran, but the catamaran that belongs to Antonello Venditti!  Who is Antonello Venditti you ask?  Well, he is an Italian singer-songwriter.  Yes, we are on his catamaran for the next several days!

We will be eating, sleeping, and playing on the catamaran for the next several days.  There are four bedrooms with bathrooms.  There is plenty of lounge space, and there are tons of things to do.  When we first got on the boat, we all ran around to check it out.  Then we were on our way!

Cheers!

The skies were overcast for a long part of the five hour journey to the island of Palmarola.    However, soon as we got there the sun came out!  It was really neat to see the island to appear from nowhere.  Palmarola is the island where nobody lives.  People just visit for the swimming.  The one house that is on the island belongs to the designer Fendi.   Once we got to Palmarola, we put down the anchor and went for a swim.  The water is so clear you can see straight to the bottom.  There were fish everywhere!

First sight of Palmarola! More cheers!

Palmarola!

Gregorio and I swimming

After a nice evening swim, we had dinner on the catamaran.  The three man crew who is manning the catamaran cooks our meals.  The meals are absolutely delicious.  They of course consist of pasta, Italy's delicacy.  After drinks and dinner, everyone enjoyed some of the night air then headed to bed.

In the morning, I was the first one to get up.  I laid out on the top of the catamaran and read my book.  Well, tried to read the book.  I was very distracted by all the other boats and the beauty of the island.  As people started getting up, we all grabbed a bite to eat.  Afterwards, we all began to play!  There is kayaking, tubing, and snorkeling to be done.  We spent the morning in the water and laying out.  Afterwards we headed around the island to a different point where we anchored again for lunch.  We did some swimming, then it was time to head to the next island!
